Conference Facilities
The Castlegate

The CastleGate
he CastleGate is a uniquely historic and impressive facility located in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Originally named Manors Power Station, the building opened in 1903 to house the offices and power generating machinery for the tram network in Newcastle and Gateshead. The generator room (now known as the Turbine Hall) was designed as an undivided space to facilitate turbine maintenance and an overhead crane ran backwards and forwards along rails built into either side of the hall. Capable of lifting up to 50 tonnes, the crane raised and moved the turbines during periods of servicing or replacement.

With many of its original features still in place, the Turbine Hall stands out as one of the largest and most spectacular halls of its kind in Newcastle and Gateshead. The renovated office section of the building also offers a wide selection of superb meeting spaces, ranging in size to suit every need.
